The Tennis Center of Coral Springs consists of 12 green har-tru courts. This award-winning facility was built in three phases beginning in 1993 to handle the demands of the local tennis community and to host an ATP event known as America’s Red Clay Championships. When the Tennis Center was completed in 1995, it received the USTA’s Outstanding Facility Award and Tennis Industry’s Court of the Year for municipal facilities. The City of Coral Springs also operates the Cypress Park Tennis Center, and facility featuring eight hard courts. With the hiring of the USPTA tennis professional, Kevin McCarthy in 1989, leagues and lesson programs blossomed at Cypress Park creating a need for an additional facility. By member request, the red clay courts have been converted to 12 green har-tru hydrocourts. Through membership, both facilities boast over 500 members, 27 league teams and over 200 people enrolled weekly in group lessons. Kevin’s junior program includes USTA’s Ralleyball and Junior TeamTennis. All of the teaching staff at both facilities are USPTA certified and participate in continuing education.
